Instructor
John Thorburn
The most important ingredient when learning how to swim is confidence in your instructor. Teaching techniques and philosophies vary greatly. It is important to interview, observe and feel confident in your instructor (me) before committing. This 30-minute period will give you the opportunity to find out how I instruct, discuss your goals, observe the facility and decide whether you would like to move forward with learning to swim classes or private swimming lessons.
If you are comfortable with getting in the water, we can move into the shallow pool to explore your swimming abilities.
If you have a fear of water, you may not want to enter the pool on your first visit. That is perfectly normal!
My objective as your instructor is to help you become comfortable and confident in and around the water. I can’t wait to help you discover the awesome world that swimming has to offer. I look forward to meeting you!
What to expect during your visit
Come to the pool and meet one another
Tour the facility and the pool area
Sit pool-side and discuss your swimming goals, experiences, fears of water, etc.
Discuss various swimming techniques and how to apply them
If you are comfortable entering the water, we can enter the shallow pool and work on floating, submerging and moving in the water.
